METADESIGN was founded in Hong Kong by Italian entrepreneur Angelo Pepe. The business originally specialized in importing Italian furniture into Hong Kong together with world famous designer Pininfarina.

In 1991, METADESIGN launched Lavazza and pioneered the espresso culture into Hong Kong and then Singapore, Malaysia, Shanghai and Beijing.
With strengthened presence in the food & beverage industry, a new relationship started with Gruppo Campari, and Jägermeister, importing brands into Hong Kong and China. This moved to a continued and passionate pathway into the world of spirits.

Building on the expansion of the business, together with SAB Miller, Peroni beer was launched.
2012
In 2012, as part of Gruppo Campari’s growth, Aperol was launched in Hong Kong & Macau leading a new Aperitivo drinks trend.
2016
KIMBO coffee from Naples was passionately launched into the market.
Roger Chan transitioned back full time as Chairman and CEO, founding the holding company METAGROUP. During the same year, METABEV KOREA, a new joint venture was established with passionate Korean partners Dookie Yeo and Jongmin Lee.

METAGROUP celebrates 30 years in Asia, acknowledging the importance of people, brands and our incredible industry. METABEV continued to launch new brands including Pommery Champagne, and Fernet Branca.

Fever-Tree proudly joined our portfolio.
Founded in Hong Kong, Hindsight specialises in content production and digital marketing for lifestyle brands.
In 2020, export management business Eclipse Beverages was founded, advising brands on their export and market-entry strategies.
In 2022, as METABEV Hong Kong begins exclusive distribution of Perrier & Vittel.

Brewed in Okinawa, Orion Beer also joins the METABEV portfolio in 2022.
A new chapter takes shape with the launch of METABEV China, the latest addition to our ever-expanding group.
